The Southern NSW & ACT Regional Tourism Roundtable is a strategic forum that brings together national, regional and local tourism stakeholders. The goal of the Roundtable is to align efforts, share insights and explore the opportunities and challenges shaping the sector, driving practical regional outcomes that industry can advocate for, operators can implement, and governments can support.
Tourism is deeply interconnected with broader regional issues and RDASNA has heard directly from stakeholders about how these issues are affecting the sector. Our region faces significant challenges in housing, workforce attraction and retention, transport and infrastructure, and the impacts of a changing climate. The Roundtable aims to understand these challenges, uncover opportunities and identify actionable solutions that can deliver both immediate and long term benefits to the visitor economy.
Our region benefits from a strong network of organisations including; Tourism Australia, Destination NSW, Destination Sydney Surrounds South, Destination Southern NSW, VisitCanberra, the Canberra Region Tourism Leaders Forum and Austrade, who are working with and alongside operators and government. These organisations are key policy drivers with deep sector knowledge, strategic plans and extensive consultation processes. The Roundtable will build on their work, creating space for collaboration, recognising existing contributions and generating practical solutions that reflect the realities of operating in our region.
The program includes opening remarks, a keynote address and a panel discussion featuring industry leaders tackling current tourism challenges and opportunities. A networking lunch will follow, leading into themed roundtable sessions focused on identifying concrete actions to strengthen sustainable growth and resilience across the sector.
An Outcomes Report will consolidate the discussions and proposed strategies, recognising the contributions of the existing stakeholder network, and highlighting solutions for implementation. This report will be shared with attendees, key State and Federal Ministers and through targeted media engagement.
